Qualified Teacher & Education Officer (SEN)
Bridge the Gap Malvern are looking to recruit a Qualified Teacher/Education Officer to join our highly skilled team, supporting young people age 16+ who have special educational needs and require an innovative, bespoke approach to education and preparation for adulthood.
Teaching sessions will be delivered on a one-to-one basis in a variety of settings such as libraries, student homes or at the BTGM office. Working collaboratively with the team, who coordinate the students’ timetables and deliver activities to support wider aspects of students’ development, you will also provide advice and guidance on appropriate educational activities and courses. An important aspect of the role is monitoring, evidencing and reporting on the academic aspects of all young people’s programmes.
We are looking for an engaging, confident individual with extensive SEN experience to support, guide and inspire young people with additional needs. You will have a patient and empathetic personality, and a passion for working with students who face significant barriers to accessing education, poor mental health and very low self-confidence.

Working hours and salary are negotiable for the right candidate. We offer a generous holiday package and flexibility to take time off during term time if preferred.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Qualified Teacher & Education Officer (SEN)
Salary: £30,000-£35,000 (full-time based on 37 hours per week)
Hours: negotiable (minimum 25 per week – salary pro-rata)
Location: BTGM Office in Malvern, in student's homes or in the community to suit needs of students
Reporting to: Head of Centre
Main purpose of job
To deliver functional skills maths and English teaching, and support the welfare and care of young people. To monitor, evidence, advise and report on the educational aspects of young people’s programmes.

You will be a dedicated, committed team player with a strong work ethic and the ability to motivate. An engaging individual capable of supporting, guiding and inspiring young people with additional needs. You will be creative and have a positive approach to dealing with difficult situations. You must be emotionally resilient and of a stable disposition. Flexibility, reliability and organisation are essential qualities, along with patience and a good sense of humour.
