Social work/Mental Health Professional

About us:
Bridge the Gap Malvern is now in its third year and provides excellent bespoke SEN personal development and educational programmes to young people aged 16-24 in Worcestershire. We are a small, dedicated team who work directly with young people helping them overcome barriers and enabling them to improve their quality of life, continue their educational journey and increase their independence skills. We have exciting plans to develop and expand, working across different counties, so there is scope in the future for career progression too.
About you:
You will be passionate about the inclusion, well-being and success of young people with special educational needs and have a strong background in social work and/or mental health and have extensive knowledge of local services. You’ll provide comprehensive support, facilitating access to services for young people and support and signpost family members contributing overall to well-being.
You will work closely with our Head of Centre and develop partnerships with multi-agencies ensuring the support for the young people and their families is of the highest standard. It is essential you be hard working, an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, team-spirited and up for a challenge. You will be highly professional displaying empathy, humility and cultural sensitivity, and have a person-centred approach. Essential qualities are flexibility, a creative approach to problem solving, teamwork and a great sense of humour!
Qualifications:
Salary: £32k+
The salary is negotiable dependent on experience and hours. Above average holiday entitlement.

Transition Coordinator
Full Time

Role
- Key pastoral support role working directly with individual students and their families
- Creative engagement and support of post 16 students with special educational needs and disabilities. Students are likely to have Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties which may be linked to personal trauma, high anxiety and a mix of complex needs, including ASC
- Use of SMART targets to demonstrate student progress
- Build positive relationships and work in close collaboration with other relevant services and local employers to ensure students are well supported and provided with quality work experience placements
- Improve student’s wellbeing, social engagement and long term employment options
Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge of successful interventions with families where there is: substance misuse, poor mental health and domestic abuse.
- Experience of working with young people and families who are reluctant to engage
- Good understanding of the complexity of poor mental health and its impact within families
- Good understanding of the impact of poverty, poor parenting and adult wellbeing on students
- Strong commitment to equality of opportunity
- Proven ability to undertake intensive, direct work with vulnerable young people
- Strong work ethic
- A non-judgemental, unflappable, optimistic, creative, collaborative, flexible person
- Sense of humour and patience will be essential
- Full clean driving licence
- Enhanced DBS will be required
